The traditional way of doing Ecommerce business by selling your products through your Magento store is slowly but surely changing. Store owners are constantly looking for additional sources of revenue and traffic to their online store. There are various other sources of traffic/customers that you can use when you own a Magento store. Here is a small list of the most popular shopping engines:
Google Shopping (in the US, UK, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, China, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil and Switzerland), Yahoo! Store, Amazon, ChannelAdvisor, eBay, Facebook, PriceGrabber, Shopzilla, DealTime, Froogle, Kelkoo, Nextag, Shopping.com, ShopBot.ca, PriceCanada.com, TheFind.com, Commission Junction and many more.
Now, getting your products on those shopping engines is done through a feed. A feed is a list of your products and their information. A typical feed is made in XML or CSV. It looks something like this:
As you can see, a feed is simply a quick way to upload data about your products in a specific format. As you can probably imagine, manually creating a feed, keeping it up to date with the right inventory and stock status is impossible. Luckily for you, there is an extension developed by GoMage that will help you solve this problem. With Feed Manager Pro you can easily create a feed for all the shopping engines we listed above.
Creating a feed with Feed Manager Pro is really easy. You can select all the required attributes that the shopping engine needs. Each shopping engine requires a different set of attributes (e.g. name, brand, size, color, product_ID, SKU, etc), and with this extension you can easily set a feed up with all these attributes. The feeds can be configured in CSV, TXT or XML format. The feed can be customized with specific filters (e.g. if the price is above $100, the product gets a 10% discount), and can automatically be uploaded to the merchant center of major shopping engines or via SSH/FTP. You can also specify the update time (e.g. 2 times a day), and the time of the upload of the feed.
With this extension you can create unlimited feeds, have them all automatically updated with new products or stock changes, you have the ability to send your feeds through FTP or SSH, unlimited filter options, select which attributes are used in the feed and much more. Watch the video below to get an idea of what the feed manager can do for you.
